Off the beaten track in the north of alsace

Explore Wissembourg, Cleebourg, and their surroundings near the German border about sixty kilometres north of Strasbourg. Get a fresh perspective on the Alsace Wine Route in this rich, unspoilt, and atypical area in the heart of traditions. Marvel at the ramparts and unique heritage of Wissembourg or stroll through the streets of Hunspach, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Explore the historical vineyard of Cleebourg; vines were first planted here all the way back in the 8th century. Today, the vineyards are skillfully and ardently cultivated using the seven Alsatian grape varieties: Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc Auxerrois, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Muscat, and Gewurztraminer.

Experience 35
Explore a northern vineyard and enjoy a sun-drenched crémant

Cleebourg is easy to find on a map of the Alsatian vineyard. Just follow the arrow pointing north to locate Alsace's northernmost vineyards. Another characteristic: Cleebourg is in the heart of the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park. Once there, it's a truly lovely sight. The south-facing vines planted on the piedmont plain come together in perfect harmony. When the sun sets over the horizon, it's simply stunning. The enchanting setting lends itself to long strolls through the vineyard. Make your way to the wine cooperative of Cleebourg for a tasting. The finely-sparkling Crémant Ice with notes of mandarin orange and lemon is best enjoyed over crushed ice, either as an aperitif or for dessert. It's perfect for all major occasions. The young winemakers of the region are such fans of the wine that they've held a celebration in its honour every August for 30 years.
